C. Visa Applications for Tourists Participating in Guided Package Tours (Group Tourist Visa Sponsored by a travel agency)

From the 10th of June, tourist visa applications for tourists participating in guided package tours with Japanese tour companies will be opened. If you have already consulted with a Japanese tour company, please read on for visa details such as eligibility and required documents.
Visa application period
You may apply for a visa 3months prior to entering Japan. Depending on your travel plan, please apply for a visa accordingly.
Visa Processing Time
The minimum assessment time is 5 working days for all visas. It generally takes longer if additional documents are required for further assessment.
In some cases, applications need to be referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and it can take between 2 weeks and 2 months or more to complete the process.
There is NO priority processing service.
Visa applications must be made IN PERSON.
An appointment is required by telephone(9480-1800) in advance.

1. Eligibility
The new measure is available to people falling under the following criteria:
(1) Holding an Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) certificate applied for by a Japanese tour company (link in Japanese)
(2) Taking part in a guided package tour supervised by a Japanese tour company
(3) Resident of a "Blue" category country (such as Australia) (Ministry of Health link)

2. Required Documents
- (1) Visa application form (with passport photo attached, taken within the last 6months)
- (2) Valid passport
- (3) Your valid long-term visa for Australia if you are not an Australian citizen
- (4) Your certificate from the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) certificate applied for by your tour company (link in Japanese)
- (5) An explanatory document prepared by your tour company including the following:
- a. An outline of the tour
- b. A list of the participants
- c. Itinerary of the tour
- d. The contact details of the travel company
- e. Certificate of employment and contact details of the tour guide
