Official visit of Ambassador Suzuki

From March 20 until March 25, Ambassador Suzuki made an official visit to Western Australia, calling on the Governor of Western Australia, HE the Hon Chris Dawson AC APM, and the WA Premier, the Hon Roger Cook MLA, also meeting with representatives from the state government, legislative council and business community to exchange perspectives on broad areas of collaboration between Australia and Japan.
In addition to visiting Broome, Ambassador Suzuki also participated in the Japan Symposium in Perth and met with the Australia-Japan Society of Western Australia.
●Official Visit
During his visit, Ambassador Suzuki met with the Governor of Western Australia, HE the Hon Chris Dawson AC APM, the WA Premier, the Hon Roger Cook MLA, the Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA, Minister for Emergency Services; Corrective Services; Defence Industries, the Hon Alanna Clohesy MLC, President of the Legislative Council, the Hon Tjorn Sibma MLC, the Hon Richard Court AC, former Australian Ambassador to Japan, as well as representatives from the state government and business community.
Conveying his congratulations to the newly re-elected Premier Cook, he exchanged perspectives on the further expansion of people-to-people exchange and close business relations between Western Australia and Japan as well as the possibility of future collaborations in areas such as decarbonization, defence and space industries.

●Visit to Broome (March 21-22)
Ambassador Suzuki visited Broome as sister city to Taiji Town in Wakayama Prefecture and the origin of the relationship between Japan and Western Australia. He met with Shire of Broome President Chris Mitchell and members of the local Japanese community, laying flowers at the Japanese cemetery and visiting the Broome Historical Museum.

●Visit to Yanchep (March 23)
Ambassador Suzuki visited Yanchep, currently under development as a joint venture by Tokyu Corporation. He was guided by Gin Wah Ang, Tokyu Corporation Australia Representative, through the botanical garden and residential areas which are based on the concept of a clean, green and sustainable city.

●Meeting with AJSWA (March 23)
Ambassador Suzuki joined a gathering hosted by the Australia-Japan Society of Western Australia (AJSWA) at the Japan Education and Cultural Centre of WA (JECCWA), where he toured the centre’s facilities led by President Ben Wholagan and met with other AJSWA members.

●Japan Symposium (March 24)
Ambassador Suzuki attended the Japan Symposium hosted by the Perth USAsia Centre, where he delivered a keynote speech and discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperations between Australia and Japan.
