Japanese Men’s National Polo Team in exchange with local Perth Water Polo Club
April 2017 Consulate-General of Japan in Perth
On April 22, the Japanese men’s national polo team (‘Poseidon Japan’) played an exhibition match against the MWPC Fremantle Mariners at the Melville Water Polo Club in Bicton. The team is in Perth as part of their training in the lead up to next week’s 2017 Men’s Water Polo World League Intercontinental Tournament on the Gold Coast, where they will aim to qualify for the FINA World League Super Final later this year. The Japanese team won the match. This year the Melville Water Polo Club is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and has produced a number of Olympians over the years. The club has shown a keen interest in its exchange with the Japan, hosting Japanese teams and even young Japanese players for extended stays.
