On February 8, a welcome ceremony was held at ECU’s Mt Lawley campus for 129 students from Tokyo City University, as the first semester group began their time on the Australia exchange program (TAP Program), now in its 3rd year.

The students were welcomed at the ceremony by ECU Vice Chancellor, Professor Chapman, and Consul-General Hirayama, and were told about the steady growth of the program into its 3rd year. Consul Sugawara also spoke to the students about safety in their daily lives in Perth, will urging them to register their residence details with the Consulate-General.

The TAP Program began three years ago and the student numbers have been steadily increasing. Students on the program spend five months at ECU studying English and related subjects. From this year, 54 students are also participating on the program at ECU’s Joondalup campus.
