Greeting from Consul-General Hirayama

September, 2016

Welcome to the Consulate-General of Japan in Perth!

I am Tatsuo Hirayama, Consul-General of Japan, and I arrived in Perth on September 9, 2016.  This is my first assignment in Australia, and I am honoured to be in charge of Western Australia which is so important for Japan.

The State of Western Australia is rich in mineral, energy and food resources and is a vital economic partner for Japan. At the same time, its business relationship with Japan has helped Western Australia advance its economic development. I hope this mutually beneficial relationship will continue and be further strengthened.

The relations between Japan and Western Australia are not limited to economic ties, but have also been expanded to a wider range of areas of exchange. Holding shared values, we are becoming more interested in each other’s history and culture, and are increasingly eager to understand each other better. I am encouraged to learn that the Japanese community here is taking a lead to introduce Japanese culture to Western Australia.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Perth is willing to contribute to the enhancement of relations and exchange in every area between Japan and Western Australia, with the help and cooperation of those concerned. The Consulate also stands ready to provide the Japanese community with services and assistance when necessary. I ask for your kind support and cooperation.
